Course correction
Wed 23 Oct 2019Despite going the wrong way, the children managed to relocate on the map and plan a route back. A lot more use of maps and compass on the way back. Children were starting to sort out the navigation Ds. Direction, duration, description, distance and destination.
All back at camp safely and a good lunch sets us up for this afternoon. -

A good day so far
Tue 22 Oct 2019There has been a lot of yawning around camp today. Mainly by staff.
Despite that we have had a good day of walking around site looking at mushrooms and doing map work.
Thee children learned how to orientate their maps using a compass or using geographic features. They did some basic bearing work and then took part in a competition to use their map skills.
Behaviour has been good today and they have had lots to eat. A night walk awaits in a few minutes and then music around the fire followed by chapter 2 of the class book.
Hopefully an earlier night and a lie in so that we can complete the fire challenge tomorrow and some lovely leaf printing.

First day at camp
Mon 21 Oct 2019A good first day at year 5 camp. All children sorted out with tents and sleeping bags and walking kit. Weather has been good and a good walk from the glacial boulder through Brockton woods, up to visit a time machine overlooking Milford and a walk along the valley via the stepping stones.
A good meal was had by all followed by a quick play in the dark before teacher led games under the trees and we are currently having story time around the fire.
Tomorrow is activity day on camp so hopefully they will all get a good nights sleep. -
Year 3 back after a fabulous two night camp in the forest. The staff have been very professional of their behaviour and attitudes.
