History Trips

Year 4 Local History Study
Year 4's summer term history topic is to study our local history. The children visited Beaudesert, Cannock Chase to learn more about the history of the site that we visit and enjoy so much! Here are some pictures of their visit.

Year 3 Local History Trip to Cannock Chase Museum
Year 3 recapped their learning about local mining from Year 2 with a visit to Cannock Chase Museum. The children explored the museum, observed artefacts, went down a 'mining shaft', explored a Victorian Miner's household and even had a visit from a real-life miner! This visit allowed the children to apply their knowledge of coal and transport from their recent topic of Canals and Technological Advancement.

Year 3 Local History Study to Fradley Junction

As a part of their recent learning in history about canals and the history of transport, Year 3 enjoyed a trip to Fradley Junction. The sessions were led by Canal & River Trust and the learned about how canal locks work, made their own mini canal model and how to be safe near water.

Year 5 Trip to Lichfield
As a part of their learning about the Civil War in History, Year 5 enjoyed a trip to Lichfield to explore the Cathedral and the role Lichfield played in the civil war. The children used maps to follow a route around Lichfield City Centre, finishing at the Cathedral. The children were able to see where the Parliamentarians and Royalists battled!

Year 6 Trip to National Memorial Arboretum
A handful of Year 6 children enjoyed a trip to the National Memorial Arboretum to celebrate D'Day's 80th anniversary. The children were amazed by all of the different memorials and were able to make links between their recent World War II topic in history.
