Spring 1 week 1
Welcome back to a new year! The children have been so excited to be with their friends again and get back into their learning. We have been recapping all of our sounds this week and making sure we haven’t forgotten any over the holidays. We have also started our half term project learning about money and the children are getting really good at counting more carefully now.
I asked the children where we get money from and where we spend it and they gave some very interesting answers! I feel like I have learnt a lot about you all this week! ๐
Next week we are learning about pets. If you have any pets could you send me a photo either on the portfolio or on messages? ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ญ๐น๐ฐ๐๐ท

Autumn 2 Week 6
๐Our last fabulous week of the Autumn term!๐
What a lovely festive week we have had! The children all tried so hard to learn all the Christmas songs and perform so well. We have made some lovely hanging Christmas trees, pictures, decorations, Christmas jumpers and so much more!
Autumn 2 Week 5
We have had a lovely week filled with Christmas activities. Making biscuits, playing pin the nose on the reindeer and even decorating our woods!
Everyone’s Christmas jumpers/outfits were fabulous too!
Have a lovely weekend.๐
Autumn 2 week 4
This week has been a strange one having so many poorly children with awful coughs. I’m so pleased that all children have tested negative and I hope that they all start feeling better soon! We have still had lots of fun this week making hedgehogs, writing Christmas letters to Santa and learning the nativity story.๐ฆ
Due to so many children being off we will be posting our letters next week to give the children that are off chance to do it with us.๐
Have a restful weekend all!
Autumn 2 week 3
This week we have been celebrating our differences and reading the story about Elmer.
We have had so much fun collarging, colouring, catching, sweeping leaves and eating lots of cake!
๐ ๐ผNext week we are writing and posting our letters to Santa. Please can I ask for a donation of a stamp or 50p towards a stamp. The children will be walking to the postbox to learn how post travels too! โ๏ธ
Autumn Term 2- Week 2
This week we have been learning all about remembrance. The children were so grown-up and respectful and did the two minute silence with the whole school on the field. We have made so many beautiful poppy pictures, poppy wreaths and painting the classroom looks lovely.
Autumn Term 2- Week 1
This week we learnt about the gunpowder plot and the leaf man! ๐ ๐ฅ
Week 7
This week we have been embracing all things Halloween. We have been reading Room on the Broom, making skeleton biscuits, making pumpkin collages, scooping out pumpkins and even becoming witches making potions.๐๐งโ๏ธ
We hope you have a lovely half term.๐
Week 6
This has been a wild week! Lots of children have been off school this week and we hope they are all on the mend soon to make my classroom nice and noisy for their last week before half term.
This week we have been learning more sounds and words. We have turned into artists and been looking into Kandinskys circles and having a go ourselves! We have also started to make our Christmas cards which I will share next Friday with you.
The children have also learnt their first 3 “learn it’s” now and are practicing writing their answers down in our Big Maths Monday lessons.
Those learn it’s are 1+1=2, 2+2=4 and 3+3=6. Have a go at practicing these at home.
Next week will be a spooky one! ๐งโ๏ธ ๐โฌ ๐ธ ๐ฆ ๐ Can you guess the book?
Week 5
This week has been lovely, we have started literacy groups and the children are trying really hard to stay on task for a good amount of time, I am really proud of them! They have also started swimming this week. They were fantastic!
Next week we are learning all about artists and being patient.
Week 4
This week has been a fun one! The children are really loving going down the woods! They have been pond dipping, bug hunting, playing chasing games and making tasty treats in the mud kitchen!
The weather doesn’t stop us!
๐๐พโ๏ธSwimming! ๐๐ป
Swimming will be starting on Wednesday for most children. I will speak to you directly if your child will be starting swimming later in the year. If you don’t hear from me please presume swimming is on for your child on Wednesday. They will need trunks/ costume, a towel and a swimming hat. Jewellery must be removed. Children can come to school in easier clothing such as a plain white T-shirt or black leggings rather than tights to help them be more independent at dressing themselves after swimming. Maybe have a practise run at getting changed and unchanged without losing all the clothes they take off this weekend. Socks love to disappear on swimming day!๐
Week 3
This week has been a really busy one! All the children are now eating in the hall together and trying so hard to stay at their chair and not wander around at lunch time.๐ฅช
๐คWe have started our phonics lessons and have done some beautiful writing. We will be sending homework bags next Thursday and you will see what they have been working on.
Week Two
We have had a lovely week. All of the new children have now met the Millfield nursery children and made lots of new friends. The children have been so brilliant this week. We have started table tasks in the morning and they have been working in these not wandering off! ๐๐ผ
Next week all children will be in full time, and will be starting our maths, phonics and skills lessons! I will post on Monday which group they will be in for outdoor learning.
Have a lovely weekend everyone! ๐
Our first week
I just want to say a massive well done to all the children this week.๐
They have all been so brave and confident starting Reception, Very few tears and lots of smiles! ๐It has been a lovely/ tiring week getting to know all the new characters and I am looking forward to learning even more about them next week!
๐ทOutdoor Learning will not start until after next week. I will let you know next week which session they are in so that they can dress appropriately.
๐โ๏ธDue to the older classes camping over the next few weeks we will not be starting swimming until Wednesday 6th October. This will give you some time to help the children practice dressing themselves independently and getting their swimming bags ready. They will need a towel, a swimming cap and a costume/ trunks. (no baggy shorts or bikinis) Earing's must be removed.
