  • Last morning

    continental breakfast to save washing up and breaking camp this morning. Not the best part of camping but everyone joining in with the bribe of a shop visit if it’s open. 
  • Final evening meal of camp

    Potatoe night tonight. First time pealing for some of them! 

    Boiled or mashed potato with peas and sweet corn Stewing steak or corned beef or quorn sausages for non meat eaters cake and custard for pudding. 

    Must be a good day as some children asking to go to bead early. 

    Children were a credit to themselves again today

    last leg of walk down to Birches Valleu.   We kep running into our mountain bike group as they meander around their route. 
  • Visit to war graves

    As part of their project the children have located some soldiers who died in the war and laid wreaths

    home made meatballs in a tomato and garlic sauce and pasta cooked on the open fire for most  and a group had a tuna dish with pasta, home made coleslaw that they made this afternoon and a garlic mayonnaise sauce. 

    Most had third helpings so must have been good. 

    Desert is stewed apple and black currant that we collected earlier with honey to sweeten it

     

  • Pudding tonight

    Children collected local fruit from the area, washed and prepared it and will eat it with custard tonight. 

    May need some sugar added!!

  • Survival cooking

    Millfield kids ready for the wild. Wood cut by themselves, fire arranged and started, tripod built and pot on for tea. 
  • Not just lighting fires

    The sun is out and children are hard at work designing their eco friendly cooking shelter before making their wreaths for laying at the war cemetery tomorrow. 

    They are also doing a  lover bike ride around the chase throughout the day.
