Year 5

Welcome to Year five

with

Mrs. Rushton and Mrs. Kobus

This first half term has flown by.  I hope you all have a happy and relaxing half term break.

Mrs. Kobus and I really enjoyed spending time with the class in the woods at “camp” and hope that they all slept well.  We did our best to wear them out.  Look at the diary section below to see what we got up to!

After half term year 5 will be having swimming lessons on Tuesday afternoons.  For these lessons they will need a swimming costume or swimming trunks, swimming hat and a towel.  Please send these items in to school in a plastic or draw-string bag and ensure that every item is named.

Please remember to bring a water bottle to school every day. We will supply all stationery needed.

Finally, if you did borrow any books from Year 4 please return these so that the new year 4 class can enjoy them too!

Weekly routines - updated for Autumn term part 2

Year 5 have swimming lessons on Tuesday afternoons and for these lessons they will need a swimming costume or swimming trunks, a swimming hat and a towel. Please send all these items to school in a plastic or draw-string bag and ensure that each item is named.

Year 5 have PE on Wednesday afternoons.  The school PE kit consists of a plain white t-shirt, plain black shorts or joggers and trainers.  A plain black tracksuit top can be worn in cooler weather when we are outside.  This year we would like pupils to come to school in their PE kit on Wednesdays instead of getting changed, but please still ensure that all items are named.

Reading books are to be taken home and read every night (except Wednesdays) and returned to school the following morning so that they can be read in school aswell.  (Please make a note in the reading record book to show when reading has taken place.)

Reading comprehension books are sent home on Wednesday evenings.  One reading comprehension exercise is to be completed and the book returned the following morning so that the work can be reviewed in class.

Additional homework tasks will be set on Purple Mash and children should be encouraged to play on TT Rockstars and Numbots weekly.  Please let me know if you have any problems accessing any of these platforms.
