Year 2 Camp update: 7.00am

  • After a good night's sleep, all campers are up and getting dressed.
  • We're going to pack bags and take down tents before breakfast
  • This morning we will do an activity in class until the rest of the school arrive
  • At about 9.30am we will be doing swimming

Year 2 Camp update: 11.00pm

  • All the children finally asleep.
  • Everybody is well and good but somebody is snoring loudly
  • I am now off to sleep so will update again in the morning - Good night!

Year 2 Camp update: 7.30pm

  • The children are fed and happy and watching Trolls - (A tradition dating back to the first Year 2 Camp in 2016)
  • In about 30 minutes we will be turning off all of the lights and settling down for bed...in about 6 hours, we hope they will be asleep!
  • All good, no worries and the children are having a blast.
  • Hope all the parents are having a lovely break.

Year 2 Camp Update: 5.30pm

  • The children have had a fantastic day!
  • The theme for this camp has been Native Americans.
  • We learnt about how Native Americans chose their spiritual name. In homage to this, we held a naming ceremony and randomly chose our own names based on the nouns, adjectives and verbs that we have been learning about in Literacy. (I am now Chief Amazing Dancing Rabbit
  • We have been making dream catchers, 'traditional' native American headwear, learning how to do archery and learning all about Pocahontas.
  • Due to bad weather we have had to cancel the night-walk and canoeing  (but we will fit these in later in the year)
  • The children have had fun playing parachute games and dancing in the hall
  • The children worked brilliantly (I would say the best group of Year 2s that I think we have ever had) to put up their own tents.
  • We are just having our evening meal now.
  • More updates to come but please check out the photos.

Year 2 have been discussing the underwear rule.

WE MADE FOSSILS!

On a rainy Friday afternoon, we decided to add a little bit of fun to our day. Year two watched Miss Attenborough make a fossil by following a set of instructions then had a go themselves. They used the dinosaurs that they excavated and made a imprint into the dough. Everyone worked so well together and enjoyed playing with the dough. We hope to show these off in our year 2 museum in a few weeks!

DINOSAURS!!!!!

On Friday 4th October Year 1 and 2 went exploring for dinosaurs and made some incredible discoveries!

Samples of dinosaur skin we found by a cliff top.

We found bones, skin, dinosaur eggs and even dung from herbivores, omnivores and carnivores!!

After being chased by Velociraptors and hiding in a shed, the children discovered a T-Rex skull in the ground and worked with Mrs. Dolman to excavate it.
