Year 4
Year 4 Teacher: Miss Stringer
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Storey
LSA's: Miss Hare
As we come to the end of Year 4, we have been reflecting on our year and reminiscing about our favourite memories. Although due to Covid-19 we have had a different year, it has been a pleasure to have you all in Year 4 and I know you will all be fantastic in Year 5 too! Well done.
Here are some of the quotes about our favourite times in Year 4 this year:
"I have loved having Mabel as our class pet and I wish we could steal her for Year 5!"
"The trips have been amazing and I have loved going up to Beaudesert too!"
"I have enjoyed playing the flute in Year 4."
"My favourite memory is when Miss Stringer fell down a muddy hill at Beaudesert." (Mabel dragged me down!)
"I have loved going swimming every week."
"I enjoyed singing a solo in our Christmas play."

Please find the timetable below for year 4:
P.E and Swimming days:
As you can see on the updated timetable above, P.E will now be on a Friday afternoon and children will swim on a Thursday afternoon. New for this year, we are asking all children to come to school wearing p.e kit on their p.e day. Please ensure children come in jogging bottoms and a hoodie as they will be in their kit all day on a Friday. P.E will be mainly outside so please ensure children come to school with suitable clothes for all weather. Kit should include: Black jogging bottoms/black shorts, trainers, socks, black/grey jumper/hoodie and a white t-shirt.
To prevent children being without the correct kit on swimming day, it is advised that swimming kits are brought into school on a Monday and go home on a Friday. Earrings will need to be removed for P.E & Swimming and long hair will need to be tied back.
Music will be on a Friday morning so children will need to have their instruments in school on this day once they have been provided with an instrument.
Homework
Homework in year 4 will be very similar to what the children were used to in year 3. There will still be 'white book Wednesdays' where children will complete reading questions at the start of the week in school and then bring their white books home on a Wednesday to complete questions in their book. White books need to be returned on the Thursday so that they are in school and ready to mark at the end of the week. If white book work is not returned Thursday morning, children will have to complete it in their own time during a 'homework catch-up session'.
Times tables are of particular importance in year 4 as children have to sit a statutory multiplication tables check in June (more information on this will be provided nearer the time.) Due to this, we will focus on a certain times table each week in lessons and children should practise at home ready for their weekly tables test each Friday. Children do not need to hand anything in for their times tables homework as their effort to practise them will be reflected in their scores each week.
I will communicate via Class Dojo each week to let you know of the spellings we will be focusing on in class and the times tables we will be working on.
