  • Night walk

    Mon 16 Oct 2017

A short. But good walk at night around castle ring.  Children were impressed by how much their night vision could see without torches. Everyone back safe and sound and nagging to go to tents. Wind is loud but should die down by midnight.

Groups are kitted out for their expedition tomorrow.

Group one aiming to walk the entire length of Cannock Chase fro castle ring to Milford. Hopefully with a lift back in the minibus.

  • Cold night at camp

    Thu 12 Oct 2017
The sky was clear and the stars were out last night for Mrs Anderson and Mrs Hare as they patrolled the camp at midnight and 3.00 and 6.00!  The deer could be heard in the morning and the children slept till 6.30.  Very cold night but none of the children complained in their inners and sleeping bags.   Wrapping up warm for a day hunting and shelter building.
  • Year 3 first day so far

    Wed 11 Oct 2017
The weather tipped it down for an hour today with loads of puddles.  Well done Mrs Dyer for telling storage stories all through it.  A rainbow brought it to an end and allowed a good playtime followed by games in the woods, tea and then a fire lighting and sing song around the campfire.  No tears so far but lots and lots of noise!!  A final settling down with cake and drink and then off to bed.
  • Year 3 camp starts

    Wed 11 Oct 2017
All of the year 3 campers are now on site including Riley who despite having a damaged arm has still turned up.  All children have now been allocated their sleeping bags and tents.   Raining at the moment while we do an indoor activity and we should be able to get out and about later to tire them out before an early night.  Please!!!!!
  • Windy night on camp

    Wed 11 Oct 2017

Last night was a memorable night with gusts of wind across the site. The potter patter of acorns falling from the trees made interesting listening all night. As did the gusts of wind across the trees.

The staff really enjoyed taking down the two shelters in the dark at 4.00 as one of the legs broke in the wind.  The children were very brave and can all say they have camped in the worst windy weather we have had on camp so far.   The up side was that there wer lots of conkers to collect this morning.  The school tents proved themselves. Hopefully that’s the last of the wind.
